Custom Terminology

How and when to override event terminology.

You can override the default terminology used throughout your FFAIR console to better align with your event requirements, and your audience.

Here's the terms you can customise:

  • Show” Set a name which best suits your type of event, this could be “Conference”, “Expo” or “Publication” for example.
  • Exhibitor” Address your invitees and task assignees in a way that makes sense. You might have tasks for a “Speaker” or “Sponsor” to complete, and with this feature you can address them as such!
  • Stand” If your event doesn’t have stands, no need to confuse your invitees by referencing them. For US events use “Booth” for example.
  • Postcode” You can override this to Zip Code if required.

There are two places you can override this terminology:

1. At the Show Level

2. At the Build/Person type Level

When you update the terminology at Show Level, your updates will apply across your entire FFAIR console.  This new terminology will be used in all correspondence with your invitess UNLESS you further update terminology at the Build/Persona type level for specific invitees.

Set terminology at Show Level.

  • Log in to your FFAIR organiser console.
  • Click in to the desired event.
  • Navigate to 'Settings' on the left hand menu.
  • On the 'Settings' page, scroll to the bottom and find the 'Local Map Settings' section.
  • Click the pencil to edit.
  • Enter your new information in the 'New Name' field as necessary. The 'New Name' field is directly to the right of the Default Name it overrides.

You can update:

  1. Exhibitor
  2. Show
  3. Stand
  4. Postcode
  • Click Save.
  • Your FFAIR console and your Exhibitors console/correspondance will automatically update to match your new names.

Set terminology at Build/Persona Type Level.

The "Set Terminology at Build/Persona Type Level" feature allows event organisers to customise terminology for different event groups.

Example Use Case: Your event is a Conference, with Speakers and Attendees. Organisers can create a 'build/persona type' specifically for 'Speaker' and customise the terminology set to reflect terminology relevant to speakers' tasks and interactions. This ensures that all communication, including emails and interactions within the FFAIR console, is tailored to each group's specific needs.

  • Log in to your FFAIR organiser console.
  • Click in to the desired event.
  • Navigate to 'Settings' on the left hand menu.
  • On the 'Settings' page, scroll and find the 'Build/Persona Type section.
  • Click '+ Add Build Types'
  • As before, enter your new information in the 'New Name' field as necessary. The 'New Name' field is directly to the right of the Default Name it overrides.

You can update:

  1. Exhibitor
  2. Show
  3. Stand
  • You can also check the relevant boxes to hide 'Stand Number' 'Size' and 'Build Type' if these are not relevant to the persona you are creating.
  • Click Save.
  • Your FFAIR console and any users assigned to this specific 'build/persona type' console/correspondance will automatically update to match your new names.

By changing the names of these fields, the changes will be visible only to this Build Type, these will override any general local overrides.
